Barbadian citizens with a valid national passport allow confirmed entry to all the Schengen areas without any visa. The situation will remain the same till the end of 2022. All the Barbadian nationals will enjoy the visa-free trips for 90 days having the following purposes:
The visa-exempt policy is the result of the agreement between the European Union and Barbados. The Barbadian nationals can enter any of the states in Europe without the need for any visa. But in the last quarter of 2022, a new system will be in the implication that will require all the Barbadian nationals to get authorization from the online system that is the same as other visa waiver systems currently in use in Canada America.
This system is called ETIAS. It is an electronic system that will require all the nationals from the list of 60 eligible countries to apply online and get travel authorization from the European system.
The authorities will take the important and necessary information from the applicant. It will be screened from the various databases of the law enforcement agencies in the Schengen zone and working internationally. This system aims to improve the security and safety conditions in the Schengen zone to fight terrorism.
A list of complementary systems will work together with ETIAS to make things smooth and streamlined. These systems are:
- (SIS) Schengen Information System
- The Entry-Exit System for Europe
These systems will work together and make things better and swift for the visa-exempt travelers who want to enter the Schengen area. This system will also stop the travelers who can be a threat to the citizens of European countries. This system will screen the travelers who are lagged or have some risk involved with them, and it will stop them right away by denying them the visa waiver to enter the Schengen zone.
Benefits for Barbadian visitors and EU residents:
- The border check will become more efficient as the authorities will not have to stop every traveler and run their information from the database to check whether the individual is safe to enter the Schengen zone or not. All Barbadian citizens can apply for the visa waiver from home, and at the time of entry, they have to show their passport imbued with a visa waiver, answer the simple questions, and they will be allowed to enter the Schengen zone.
- The Barbadian citizens will not need to go to any embassy or consulate to get a visa.
- This system will increase the security and safety of European citizens.
- The most important thing is that the refusal rate at the border will be decreased as all the security check has already been made by the ETIAS.
All the Barbadian citizens who will get the authorization from the ETIAS will have access to all the Schengen states, and they can stay there for 90 days. The stay must not exceed longer than that in the 180 days period.
