The Georgian visitors can enjoy visa-free travel to Europe until the end of 2022. Presently, all travellers can access the Schengen area just by presenting a valid passport at arrival. This travel exemption comes with the bilateral agreement between Georgia and the EU states. However, the current policy will change after implementing the ETIAS visa waiver that expects to launch by next year. This new travel authorization policy will encourage all visitors traveling to Europe to apply for a visa waiver before arrival in the country.

Although the European Committee proposed the system back in 2016, it will finally launch in 2022. Once it comes into effect, it will become a requirement for all Georgians to apply for a travel authorization visa to enter the Schengen region and travel within the member states for up to 90 days.

Since ETIAS does not count as a visa so visitors cannot get it through a consulate, if a Georgian visitor wants an ETIAS visa, they must submit an online application. The European travel authorization system will take effect because of increasing security issues in the EU and strengthen the Schengen border security after its implementation. It will also benefit all visitors coming to the area, including Georgians and the locals of all the Schengen countries.

The ETIAS visa waiver is different from other European visas. It will allow visa holders to access all of the Schengen regions, including the 22 EU-members and the four non-EU member countries. All visitors coming to the Schengen area can travel and stay in all these countries.

The 22 European union member states including,

  • Austria
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • Italy
  • Hungary
  • Germany
  • France
  • Spain
  • Belgium
  • Portugal
  • Finland
  • Sweden
  • Malta
  • Poland
  • Denmark
  • Lithuania
  • Latvia
  • Estonia
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Greece
  • Czech Republic

And also, these four non-EU member states,

  • Switzerland
  • Iceland
  • Liechtenstein
  • Norway

The Georgian visitors do not require ETIAS to visit these Non-Schengen European states.

  • Croatia
  • Ireland
  • Romania
  • Cyprus
  • Bulgaria

What are the requirements for Georgian visitors to enter Europe?

The European Commission developed the ETIAS visa waiver for the ease of the applicants. It is hassle-free, and Georgian visitors can apply for the visa through an online application. The application asks a few simple questions which the applicants can get over within a few minutes. The only requirement is access to Wi-Fi and any internet gadget like laptops, mobile phones, or tablet devices.

All the Georgian applicants must have the following necessary documents at hand to apply successfully for the ETIAS.

  • A valid Georgian passport that has almost a 3-month validity beyond the estimated days of the trip.
  • A valid email ID without spelling errors as the applicants will receive the visa processing updates and later the ETIAS approval on the provided address.
  • A payment card, either debit or credit. After submission, the applicants have to pay a 7-EURO ETIAS processing fee. However, applicants older than 70 years and minors under 18 years do not have to pay the charge.

The Georgian visitors must have access to all the above documents to enter all details accurately, as missing any information may hinder the application process.

The ETIAS visa waiver will become a compulsory requirement for all applicants, including 70+ and below 18. As kids cannot self-apply for the visa, a guardian or parent can do so on their behalf with the required information. However, parents can mention their contact details and email address to receive the ETIAS visa waiver.

The online application requires the following details from the Georgian visitors,

  • The full name of the Georgian applicant.
  • Date of birth.
  • Country of residence.
  • Nationality (of the passport used for the application), mandatory for dual nationality holders.
  • All passport details; issue date and expiry.

The applicant may also need to provide additional details such as,

  • Employment history
  • Travel history
  • Health issues

All applicants must correctly enter the online form and match their passport details to ensure the ETIAS visa approval and reduce processing delays.

The applicants must provide valid contact details such as Phone number and Email address in the next step. The Georgian visitors must confirm these details since they will receive their approved ETIAS visa waiver online through the email address.

The ETIAS application will further require data about the applicant's future travel plans and must provide details about

  • Applicants must provide information about departure and arrival dates in the Schengen area.
  • The initial country of arrival.

The applicants must provide the above details to ensure first entry in their preferred member state. However, they can travel and stay all over the Schengen area during their trip.

The applicant must also mention details regarding

  • Human trafficking
  • Any past criminal records
  • Drug abuse
  • Security issues

The Georgian residents must honestly respond to all the questions. This requirement is crucial to the approval of the ETIAS visa approval. If the authority official finds any discrepancies in the applicant's documents compared to the application's information, they will send the details for further verification, ultimately causing processing delays. Besides, all applications will pass screening against several European security records, including the Europol, Interpol, VIS, SIS, and others.

Visit Europe from the Georgian on an ETIAS visa.

The Georgian visitors must note that the ETIAS visa waiver is not a visa, rather a visa waiver that will allow its holders multiple entries into Europe. Below mentioned are a few features of this travel authorization.

  • Several entries into the Schengen area until it remains valid.
  • Until valid, it will allow visitors to travel and stay for up to 90days within a 180-day duration.
  • Free border movement from one Member state to another and travel through the Schengen borders.
  • Travel for purposes like trade, tourism, and transit.

The approved ETIAS will link electronically to the passport number provided in the application form. The visa waiver has a 3-year validity, and visa holders can use it for their travel purposes until the visa or their passport expires, whichever happens first.

If a passport expires, gets lost, or stolen, the ETIAS visa waiver will become obsolete and no longer applicable for European travel. In this scenario, the applicants have to get a new passport first and then apply for another ETIAS visa.

The applicant can reapply for the ETIAS online following the same procedure with the new passport number. The ETIAS applications usually take 24 hours or one business day for the screening and approval process. However, if the information provided by an applicant includes errors, the officials may manually process the application, causing processing delays that can take up to 3 days.

Therefore, all the Georgian applicants must make sure the entered information is accurate and error-free. It is also better to place an ETIAS application minimum 3-days before the travel date to avoid unnecessary processing delays. Only ETIAS holders can access the Schengen area after arrival, so applicants must ensure visa approval and remember to carry it on their trip. Also, the ETIAS visa waiver connects to only one passport of the applicant. So, dual passport holders should select one of the both they prefer for the Europe travel, apply for the ETIAS visa with the same one and ensure they bring it along their trip.

Are Georgian residents allowed to travel to Europe for work on an ETIAS visa travel authorization?

Any ETIAS visa holder cannot use it as a regular visa. The visa waiver only authorizes travel for leisure, business and transit purposes in the Schengen area up to 90-days during a 180-day duration. However, the ETIAS allows them to travel for trade or business activities anywhere in the Schengen area as long as they do not exceed the permitted period. However, the Georgian visitors who want employment in any Schengen member state can look for work but should apply for a work-related visa at the destination country's consulate. Besides, the ETIAS will benefit anyone who wishes to look for employment or business opportunities in the EU. It grants them access to the 22 EU-member and the four non-EU member states. Besides, the Georgian individuals who wish to work long term in Europe but are conflated on deciding one country can travel throughout the Schengen area and choose the member state that best fits their living and working standards. Once they finalize the country, they must visit the embassy for further employment information in that particular member state. The laws of each Schengen country vary from the other. Therefore, it is essential to know about work laws before applying for employment opportunities in the area. The Georgian visitor can apply for a work visa at the embassy of the chosen Schengen country. The European work visa application process differs from the ETIAS visa because it requires online application through an online form. At the same time, applicants have to apply for the former only through a manual application at the embassy. Also, the EU visas cater long term travel like immigration, student visa, or employment visa. Whereas the ETIAS only enables visitors a limited stay for tourism, trade, or stopovers within the Schengen region. The ETIAS visa policy expects all visa holders to comply with the rules, including the travel duration and purpose. All Georgian visitors must exit the Schengen area once they complete the 90 days. Any visitor found staying beyond the permitted stay or working illegally on the ETIAS visa may face severe consequences, like deportation and even cancellation of the ETIAS visa waiver.

How many days can the Georgian visitors stay in Europe with the ETIAS?

The Georgian visa holders can stay in the Schengen area for no more than 90 consecutive days in 180 days. The ETIAS visa waiver has a validity span of 3-years, which means that Georgian visitors can visit Europe as many times as long as their passport and the attached travel authorization remain valid. In the case of the expiry of the original one, the ETIAS will also become void. The visitor will need to reapply for a new visa waiver with another passport number. Although the ETIAS allows the Georgian visitors to travel across the Schengen region and stay for 90-days, the ETIAS policy expects all travelers to leave the Schengen area once the duration expires. They can return home, travel to any other country without traveling through the Schengen borders. However, if they wish, they can re-access Europe after 90-days on the ETIAS visa.

Can Georgia visitors travel to Europe for education on ETIAS?

The ETIAS visa waiver does not allow Georgia visitors to travel for purposes other than tourism, trade, or transit. Any visitor found in other activities will become liable for punishment. However, if any Georgian wants to study in the Schengen area, he can legally apply for a European visa through the embassy.
